Needle Felt Halloween Decorations

Needle Felt Halloween Decorations

This October half term join the Usher Gallery learning team to create your own needle felted halloween decoration. All materials are provided with support from the staff to learn the process of needle felting and guidance on creating your design.

Ages 8+ due to sharp tools

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

What to expect

This workshop is taking place in the Clore Learning room at the Usher Gallery. The Clore learning room is accessible by the entrance of the Usher. To find the Clore learning room, enter the Usher gallery by the glass extension entrance and go to the main door on the left. There are ramps and wide doors to accommodate wheelchairs, and a disabled access toilet oppositive the Clore learning room door, behind the reception desk.

This session will run from 1pm-3pm.

In this event you will be invited to create a needle felted Halloween decoration using carded merino wool and felting needles.

You will be invited to handle carded wool and use a felting needle to process the wool. The needles are sharp, therefore the workshop is restricted to ages 8 and above. All children aged 8-14 must be accompanied by adult.

This workshop may be challenging if you have physical limitations affecting your hands, wrists or arms. The needle felting process is quite physical so you may find it difficult if you struggle with fine motor skills over a sustained time period. The wool is soft with the needles making a soft crunching sound when applied to the wool.

The space may be noisy or sensory heavy, to help you with this we have noise cancelling head phones and fidget toys available.

Here at Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery, we welcome all participants; if you still aren’t sure whether this workshop is accessible for you or someone you care for, please email us at lincolnmuseum@lincolnshire.gov.uk and we can discuss your access requirements.
